Jio eSIM Supported Devices
At present, Jio eSIM functionality is available on select models of Apple iPhones (XR, XS, XS Max, 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, SE, 12 mini, 12, 12 Pro, and 12 Pro Max), Samsung phones (Galaxy Z Flip, Galaxy Z Fold, Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G, Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Z Fold 2, Galaxy S21 5G, Galaxy S21+ 5G, Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G, Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra), Google phones (Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, Pixel 3a, Pixel 3a XL, and Pixel 4a), and Motorola phones (Razr 2019 and Moto Razr).
While activating an eSIM may not be as simple as activating a physical SIM, the process varies depending on the manufacturer. To activate your Jio eSIM, you would need to visit the nearest Jio Store, Reliance Digital, or Jio Retailer and request a new SIM through customer support.
Here are the steps to activate Jio eSIM for each of the four manufacturers:
How to activate Jio eSIM on iPhone
- Ensure that your iOS version is 12.1 or higher to use an eSIM.
- Go to Settings, tap on General, and select About to find your EID number and IMEI number. Make note of these numbers.
- SMS GETESIM followed by the EID number and IMEI number to 199 from the device that has an active Jio SIM.
- You will receive a 19-digit eSIM number and eSIM profile configuration details along with a notification to configure the profile on your device. If you do not receive a notification, do not worry.
- Next, SMS SIMCHG followed by the 19-digit eSIM number to 199.
- After approximately two hours, you should receive an eSIM processing update. SMS ‘1′ to 183 to confirm.
- You will then receive an automated call requesting the 19-digit eSIM number. Upon successful activation of services on your eSIM, you will receive a confirmation via SMS.
- Your existing physical SIM will no longer function, and you will need to configure your eSIM. If you received a notification to configure the profile on your device, select Install data plan. On the next screen, select Continue. If you did not receive a notification, go to Settings and select Jio Data Plan Ready to be Installed. On the next screen, select Install Data Plan and then Continue. Your Jio eSIM is now ready for use.
How to Activate Jio eSIM on Samsung phones
- Go to Settings > About phone to find your IMEI number. Tap on Status Information to obtain your EID number.
- SMS GETESIM followed by the EID number and IMEI number to 199 from the device that has an active Jio SIM.
- Along with the 19-digit eSIM number and eSIM profile configuration details, you will receive a 32-digit activation code. Keep this code handy.
- Follow steps 3-7 as mentioned above.
- To configure your Jio eSIM, go to Settings and select Connections. Then choose SIM card manager.
- Select Add mobile plan under eSIMs and tap on Scan carrier QR code.
- On the next screen, select Enter code instead and type LPA:1$smdprd.jio.com$Activationcode where ‘Activationcode’ after the ‘$’ sign is the 32-digit activation code you received via SMS.
- Tap on Connect, wait for the process to complete, and your Jio eSIM should be active.
How to activate Jio eSIM on Google phones
- Go to Settings > About phone to find your IMEI number. Tap on SIM status to obtain your EID number.
- Follow steps 2-4 as mentioned above.
- Go to Settings > Network and Internet > Mobile network and select Download a SIM instead.
- On the next screen, select Next. Tap on Need help on the ‘Scan QR code from network’ screen and choose Enter it manually on the following screen.
- Enter the activation code as LPA:1$smdprd.jio.com$Activationcode where ‘Activationcode’ after the ‘$’ sign is the 32-digit activation code you received via SMS.
- Select Continue.
- On the next screen, choose Activate and wait for the process to complete.
- Finally, select Done, and your Jio eSIM should now be activated.
How to activate Jio eSIM on Motorola phones:
- Follow steps 1-2 as mentioned above.
- SMS GETESIM followed by the EID number and IMEI number to 199 from the device that has an active Jio SIM.
- Along with the 19-digit eSIM number and eSIM profile configuration details, you will receive a 32-digit activation code. Keep this code handy.
- Follow steps 3-7 as mentioned above.
- To configure your Jio eSIM, go to Settings and select Network and Internet. Then select Mobile Network and look for a + sign or Add option to add a new network.
- Tap on Add a new network and select SIM card from the options.
- Select “Use SIM as eSIM” on the next screen.
- Enter the 32-digit activation code that you received via SMS.
- Tap on Continue and wait for the process to complete.
